I just can't believe how fast the time is going. We have 3 kids at camp until Fri. We spent Mon. driving them to camp and back (4 hrs) and will pick them up on Fri. It is so much quieter with the oldest ones not here.
The parents of the other sibling group in our home have had their rights terminated last week. The kids are officially up for adoption, they have been with us for the last 15 months. We found out on Monday that they have relatives that have come forward and asked permission to adopt them. They will have to go through the whole process and it will take longer because thay live out of state. It was kind of a shock to everyone to have someone show up at the last minute.
Our emotions have been up and down with this group as well others we have had in our home. We thought we might like to adopt them and if there was no one else we would. I actually hope the family checks out and would be a good fit for the kids, they need to have permency soon.
We are still working on adopting the younger siblings of the two we adopted and it should be final soon. We are still "negotiating". There is a court date at the end of this month and if we could reach an agreement by then, we could finalize the adoption at that court date.
I have had a few visits with my sisters here from out of town, they have been here for a month and one of them will be leaving this week :(.
It has been really nice to have them here, even if I don't get to see them very much. I miss having alot of family around.
Having eight kids makes it hard to get out and visit people. Now I understand why growing up with alot of siblings, we never went anywhere.
My husband had a cousin and his wife visiting from Minnesota today, so his sister and him met them for lunch and then went to visit their mother in the nursing home. I wasn't able to go as I didn't want to take all the kids to their family reunion. But he said he had a good time and would like for them to come back sometime.
“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). I felt this scripture come to me today. For me it means relationship. How great it is that I have a relationship with Him. Because of that relationship with Him, I can trust and "be still". And in that stillness I find peace. I don't have to do anything for He does it all. When I lose peace, I know that I am not being still and am back to doing things in my own strength.
Catch ya later!

Waiting for the next heat wave.
Just thought I would bring everyone up to date on court today. The parents of our second set of kids signed off their rights, so they were tpr'd. But some relatives from out of state have showed up at the last minute and wanted to be given some time to think about adopting the kids, they have till next Monday. The parents will also be given one last good bye visit, it will probably happen the last week of June. The kids told their therapist that they want to stay here and have us adopt them. So at this point it is still a waiting game.
We are making some progress on adopting the other two and it shouldn't be much longer now, probably by next month at the latest.
It has been very busy with all the kids home from school. Although Monday they started going to the parks program from 10:00-3:00, they even feed them lunch. So 4 kids go and 4 stay home. Helps keep them from being so bored. They are going swimming tomorrow and they are so excited.
I went to the Dentist today with a tooth bothering me and found out I need a root canal. As we don't have dental insurance it is going to be an expensive deal. The first dentist was going to charge $1200, my sister's dentist charges $900. So I have an appt for next tues to get it done.
On a good note, I love that summer seems to be here. We are enjoying our porch more than I could have hoped for and it is great for the little kids. Even on the wet days (and we seem to have a lot of them)they can still play outside on the porch and I don't have to worry about them getting muddy. We just had to install some hook latches up high enough that K couldn't open them. The kids like to eat out there, but it is so much easier to eat inside with so many little ones. The last time we ate out there, they made a mess of the floor and I couldn't keep them in their seats. We have a large table and a small table. The little kids sit at the small table and they are constantly getting up out of their seats, so I don't know how good it is to eat out there with them.
I have had the opportunity to take a nap on the sofa on the porch and Greg had all the kids inside. It was wonderful, I could actually hear my wind chimes in the trees without the kids outside with me. Now that is sweet! And the birds singing, so nice! It is amazing how the little things can seem like so much! I was so blessed, one day was when we had a heat advisory and the temperature was 100, that is why all the kids were inside. I turned on the paddle fans and fell asleep on the sofa. I think the heat actually made me sleep a little longer and I woke up sweating, but it was worth it. I have never enjoyed heat so much.
Well catch you next time!
